Starting in 5th position, Kasey Kahne won the Sprint Cup race in Sonoma (California). He took the lead 33 laps from the finish by dominating Scott Speed and was able to protect his position at the restart, three laps from the finish, against Tony Stewart, who finished second. Brian Vickers, who started from pole, finished 16th.
