Third victory in two months for veteran Mark Martin. The Chevrolet driver took advantage of the racing circumstances to win after 200 laps. In fact, he took the lead a few seconds from the end of the race. In total, out of the 200 laps of the circuit, he was only leader for one lap of the oval! Jimmie Johnson is the big loser for Michigan, with a poor 22nd place after leading for 146 laps.
In the end, Martin beats Jeff Gordon, Denny Hamlin, Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle and Juan Pablo Montoya. The latter achieves his sixth Top 10 and is back for the Chase, since he is now 14th in the ranking.
