One month after the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the prototypes return to the track for the 1000 km of Algarve, in Portimao (Portugal). As expected, the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP from the Oreca team, the only diesel car in the field, is in the lead from the first free practice session. In 1?31??878, the car of the Panis trio, Stone, Sarrazin is almost two seconds ahead of the two Lola B10/60s from Rebellion Racing. In GT2, the Ferrari F430 GT2 from the Alesi, Fisichella, Vilander crew (AF Corse) occupies first place (1).
