The two Skodas of Juho Hanninen and Jan Kopecky finished first in the first of three stages of Rally Russia. The Finn won all four stages on the day's program, followed three times by his Czech teammate. In the general classification, Hanninen precedes Kopecky by 27”5 and Guy Wilks by 46”5. The Abarths of Basso and Alén are relegated to more than 1'20”.
