Janis Baumanis (Ford Fiesta) created a surprise by setting the best time in Q1 of the World RX in Estering (Germany). The World RX Team Austria driver beat EKS drivers Toomas Heikkinen and Mattias Ekström (Audi S1). Andreas Bakkerud (Ford Focus RS) and Johan Kristoffersson (Volkswagen Polo) completed the top five ahead of Timmy Hansen (Peugeot 208) and Ken Block (Focus RS).
Davy Jeanney (Peugeot 208) is in eighth place ahead of his teammates Kevin Hansen and Sébastien Loeb. Petter Solberg (DS 3) is only 12th.
