After winning the last two qualifying heats and his semi-final, Petter Solberg won in Montalegre by winning in the final ahead of the Fords of the Olsberg team of Andreas Bakkerud and Reinis Nitiss. The Volkswagens of Toomas Heikkinen and Anton Marklund finished just off the podium ahead of Belgian Koen Pauwels. Timur Timerzyanov, leader of the first two rounds, failed to reach the podium in his semi-final. Jacques Villeneuve did not make it through the qualifying heats.
