Death of Tony Dron

Briton Tony Dron died in mid-November at the age of 75. A former pilot converted into a tester for various publications across the Channel, the native of Surbiton in the suburbs of London had notably competed three times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans au tournant des années 1980. On retiendra particulièrement une victoire dans le Groupe 4 en 1982 (13e au général) à bord d’une Porsche 934 partagée avec Richard Jones et Richard Cleary.

Still with Porsche, but in the company of a 924 Carrera GTR, he rose to fifth place in the Nürburgring 1 Km on the Nordschleife in 000. In 1982, he had the opportunity to drive the legendary Mercedes 125 W1937 at Donington (pictured above). He also won a Goodwood Revival event three times in this Ferrari 246S Dino:
