The Oreca 03-Nissan of Boutsen Energy Racing (Clark-Brière-Buemi) who had started a fire during free practice, returned to the pits before the green flag was waved.
Yelmer Buurman takes the lead with Status GP's Lola B12/80 Coupé-Judd. Mathias Beche, the pole sitter of the 6 Hours of Le Castellet, drops to second place with the Oreca 03-Nissan du Thiriet by TDS Racing. Tom Kimber-Smith is third in the Greaves Motorsport Zytek Z11SN-Nissan. The polemen of the GTe Pro and Am categories, with Jaime Melo (JMB Racing) and Marc Goossens (Prospeed Compétition) retained their position.
