Earl Bamber set the best time in the first practice session of theIMSA au Virginia International Raceway où seules les GTLM et les GTD ont fait le déplacement ce week-end. Antonio Garcia placed his No. 7 Corvette C3R in third place just ahead of the second Ford GT driven by Richard Westbrook.
Madison Snow was the fastest of the GTD with a time of 1'45''722 signed at the wheel of the No. 48 Lamborghini Huracan. Paul Miller Racing finished at the front as its second car was the closest with Spencer Pumpelly in the #16.
