Turn 1 of the Barcelona circuit modified for greater safety

The Barcelona circuit (Spain) has started work to improve safety, particularly around the first corner of the Catalan track.

The run-off part outside the first turn must be enlarged by around 40%. The surface area of the run-off zone (asphalt run-off + gravel trap) of turn 1 will increase from approximately 5 m200 to 2 m7. The current gravel area of 200 m2 will be increased to 3 m100. This will give drivers and motorcyclists more space if they go off the track.

In addition to preliminary works, demolition and earthworks, new structures such as walls and service roads will be built in the area. Finally, all safety elements (tire barriers or Tec Pro barriers) will need to be reinstalled to improve safety.
