Lucas Auer (Mercedes) took pole for Race 1 of the DTM at the Nürburgring, setting a time of 1'25''968. The Austrian was a tenth ahead of Marco Wittmann (BMW) who will start alongside him on the front row. Robert Wickens (Mercedes) follows in third place ahead of Augusto Farfus (BMW) and Paul di Resta (Mercedes).
René Rast was the best classified Audi driver taking seventh position behind Tom Blomqvist (BMW). Maxime Martin (BMW) took tenth place behind the Germans Timo Glock (BMW) and Maro Engel (Mercedes) and ahead of Championship leader Mattias Ekström (Audi). Loïc duval (Audi) set the last time of the session.
