The Hendrick Motorsports driver signs his 10th career pole and ends a qualifying drought that had lasted since the 4th race of the 2020 season.
The 2020 champion completed his best lap in 19,694 seconds at an average of 155 km/h, a speed to be compared with the 800 meters length of the track, the smallest of the season.
Elliott will share the front row this Saturday evening with Aric Almirola.
Cole Custer, Chris Buescher and William Byron, Kevin Harvick, Christopher Bell, Kyle Larson, Brad Keselowski and Todd Gilliland round out the Top 10.
The winningest active driver at Martinsville with 5 Grandmother Clocks, the trophy awarded to the winner, Denny Hamlin took only 25th position. He proved last week by winning at Richmond on the wire that he knew he was the man of the last laps. This race has 400, so you will have to go through many pitfalls to have a chance of winning. Tyler Reddick also has a strong opinion on the issue.
