BMW and Mercedes abandoned their appeal following to the exclusions of Marco Wittmann and Daniel Juncadella in Race 2 at the Hungaroring (Hungary) contested last weekend due to a flat bottom that was too thin compared to the limits imposed by the regulations.
“We have decided in the interest of the sport not to take our appeal to court, explained Jens Marquardt, director of BMW Motorsport, on Sport 1. We remain convinced that this is due to the incidents that occurred initially. We could see with Marco's times that it didn't give him any advantage, it would be quite the opposite. »
Marco Wittmann therefore maintains a 14-point lead over Edoardo Mortara (Audi) before the final contested on October 15 and 16 at Hockenheim.
