According to our German colleague Auto Motor & Sport, a meeting between the organizers of the DTM and the three manufacturers were held on Wednesday. At the end of which it was decided to allow Mercedes, lacking intrinsic performance at the start of the season – the handicap against BMW and Audi being estimated at 4/10th of a second per lap – to approve new parts on its C-Coupé until September 25, and to proceed with an exclusive trial session. The Audi RS 5 and BMW M4 strictly retain the same technical approvals set for March 1 for aerodynamics and June 2 for the chassis.

This is the first time in 30 years of DTM that the technical regulations have been changed during the season.

The official press release sent from the DTM today confirms the exemption offered to Mercedes by the DMSB commission, but also that the current regulations will be frozen until the end of 2015, except for adjustments proposed by the three manufacturers, such as this aid granted to the star brand.
