Audi dominated the first free practice session in DTM on the Austrian route of Red Bull Ring. Edoardo Mortara was the fastest at the wheel of his RS5 DTM in 1'25"585 and ahead of the Mercedes C-Coupé AMG from the ART Grand Prix team entrusted to Gary Paffett of 73 thousandths.
Timo Scheider (Audi) ranks third ahead of the Mercedes of Juncadella, Di Resta, Vietoris and Auer. The first BMW M4, of outgoing champion Marco Wittmann, only took eighth place, just ahead of Adrien Tambay (Audi).
