Christian Vietoris (Mercedes) dominated the initial free practice session at the Nürburgring meeting in DTM. The German driver achieved his best lap in 1'23″838, 78 thousandths ahead of his teammate in the star brand Robert Wickens.
Marco Wittmann places the first BMW M4 in third position, 84 thousandths behind Vietoris, and is followed by Felix Rosenqvist (Mercedes), fourth in 1'23"992. The first Audi RS 5 follows with Edoardo Mortara at the wheel, ranked two tenths behind the reference time. Adrien Tambay (Audi) sets the 24th time at 1″211 just behind future DTM retiree Martin Tomczyk (BMW).
