DTM-EL1: Wittmann takes the lead

For the return to business of DTM, whose weekend event takes place on the Moscow track in Russia, Marco Wittmann struck first during the inaugural free practice session. The BMW driver, 2014 champion, set the best time in 1'30″607 and is ahead of Christian Vietoris (Mercedes) of 278 thousandths.

Two other Mercedes enter the top 5 with Daniel Juncadella, third at 0 seconds and Lucas Auer, 290 thousandths behind. Augusto Farfus (BMW) completes the top 327 at 5″0. The first Audi RS 477 of Edoardo Mortara climbs into seventh position.

Adrien Tambay (Audi), who is making his comeback after withdrawing from the second race at Zandvoort in the Netherlands, takes 14th place at 727 thousandths. For his DTM racing debut, Swede Felix Rosenqvist (Mercedes) set the 19th time at 1″028. Note that the rain appeared at the end of the session.
