Miguel Molina (Audi) set the best time in practice for the DTM at the Nürburgring (Germany) with a time of 1'22"861. The Spaniard was ahead of Paul di Resta by 43 thousandths (Mercedes). The RS 5 DTMs of Jamie Green and Mike Rockenfeller and the C63 AMG DTMs of Robert Wickens and Championship leader Pascal Wehrlein follow at just over a tenth of the benchmark.
Adrien Tambay (Audi) finished seventh while Maxime Martin (BMW) finished 16th. Mattias Ekström (Audi), Pascal Wehrlein's direct rival, took tenth place.
