Joey Hand received a 30-second penalty at the end of the Nürburgring race and fell to 17th place after crossing the finish line in 14th place. The BMW driver was penalized for a dangerous exit into the pits. Jamie Green (Audi) was the first beneficiary as he inherited the position from the American, followed by Gary Paffett (Mercedes) and Timo Glock (BMW).
