Miguel Molina (Audi) took his first pole of the season, the sixth of his career, by winning qualifying for Race 1 of the DTM at the Lausitzring. The Spaniard set a time of 1'16''619 to beat Jamie Green (Audi) by 77 thousandths.
Marco Wittmann (BMW) and Robert Wickens (Mercedes) will start on the second row in front of Lucas Auer and Christian Vietoris (Mercedes). Mattias Ekström (Audi) is seventh ahead of Maxime Martin (BMW) and Adrien Tambay (Audi). Nico Müller (Audi) completes the top ten. Esteban Ocon (Mercedes) will start from 16th place taking advantage of the five-place penalty inflicted on Maximilian Götz (Mercedes) ultimately 20th.
