Nico Müller set the reference time for the last practice session of the DTM at Hockenheim with a lap completed in 1'32''850. The Swiss was ahead of Edoardo Mortara by a tenth, who will need an exploit to win the title against Marco Wittmann (BMW), only 17th in the session.
Audi placed four RS 5 DTMs at the front, with Mike Rockenfeller in third place ahead of René Rast. Antonio Félix da Costa placed the first BMW M4 in fifth position while Paul di Resta hoisted the first Mercedes C 63 in seventh place behind Jamie Green (Audi).
Adrien Tambay (Audi) set the 13th time, half a second behind the benchmark, while Maxime Martin (BMW) finished 15th. Miguel Molina (Audi), the winner the day before, is only 20th.
