Bruno Spengler lost his duel for the title against Martin Tomczyk, the Canadian having missed the last two races with a retirement at Oschersleben and a tenth place in Valencia. The Audi driver can no longer be caught up in the Championship one race before the end of the season, Mercedes accepts his defeat with modesty.
Norbert Haug congratulates his opponent with whom he offered a very competitive and uncertain season until the last races. “First of all, I would like to congratulate Martin (Tomczyk) and the Audi team”, comments the sports director of the star manufacturer. “I remain sporty by accepting defeat. I stayed 100% behind my team who worked very hard this season. Unfortunately, our gap can no longer be made up since we lost 20 points on Martin in the last races. I am now looking forward to competing in the last event at Hockenheim as well as the arrival of BMW next year. »
