On the occasion of the last round of the 2012 season, the organizers of the German Touring Championship DTM have decided to freeze the technical regulations for 2013, in order to maintain a very tight level of performance between the three manufacturers present, BMW, Mercedes and Audi.

“We have seen a great competition this year,” admits Hans Werner Aufrecht, President of ITR, the company which organizes the DTM. “All three brands were able to win. For us, driver safety and cost control for manufacturers are the cornerstones of our strategy, particularly in these complicated economic times.”

In 2012, the DTM introduced completely new technical regulations based on Coupé models all having the same carbon monocoque with the aim of reducing development costs.

The full report of the last DTM round of the 2012 season, contested this weekend at Hockenheim, can be read in the next issue of AUTOhebdo available from Tuesday October 23 at 14 p.m. in digital version, or Wednesday in all kiosks.
