Only tenth on the Norisring starting grid, Martin Tomczyk was unable to prevent pole sitter Bruno Spengler (Mercedes) to regain the lead in the Championship. The Audi driver nevertheless had a good race, moving up to third place before the race was stopped prematurely due to the unpredictable weather.
“When the stops started, I didn’t even know what my position was”, admits the German. “The decision to stop the race was clearly the right choice. There was really too much water on the track. Obviously, being third after starting from tenth on the grid exceeds our expectations. I couldn't do better, so I'm satisfied. »
