Following the sanctions imposed by the DMSB on Audi, Timo Scheider and Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich after the episode of Red Bull Ring in Austria, Toto wolff, boss of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport was keen to react.
“We have taken note of the decision. Unfortunately, the fact remains that our drivers remain without points from Spielberg's second race, Wolff comments. I feel sorry for Pascal Wehrlein and Robert Wickens because the lost points could play an important role.
The verdict against Dr. Ullrich is certainly harsh. Until this incident, we knew him as a competitor with integrity and we appreciated what he did for the series. The removal of points for Audi gives us back first place in the Manufacturers' championship. However, we do not want a sporting competition to be decided like this. »
