Marco Wittmann (BMW) intends to regain the lead of the Championship. The German took pole for Race 2 of the DTM in Moscow (Russia) with a time of 1'28''776, ahead of Tom Blomqvist (BMW) on the first row by more than a tenth.

Maxime Martin (BMW) set the third time but the Belgian will have to start from the pits for an infraction in the parc ferme. The Belgian also went off the track forcing the marshals to display the red flag (video). Robert Wickens (Mercedes), the winner of Race 1 and new leader of the Championship, will therefore share the second row with Bruno Spengler (BMW) who precedes Daniel Juncadella (Mercedes). Augusto Farfus (BMW) is in sixth position ahead of Timo Glock (BMW), Maximilian Götz (Mercedes) and Lucas Auer (Mercedes).

Nico Müller took the first Audi to 12th place. Rookie Felix Rosenqvist (Mercedes) took 13th place ahead of Mattias Ekström (Audi). Adrien Tambay (Audi) is 18th.
