Marco Wittmann (BMW) confirms his status as Championship leader by taking pole at the Nürburgring with a time of 1'22"780 achieved in the last qualifying session. Edoardo Mortara leads the Audi group chasing him with a little more than a tenth behind. Mike Rockenfeller is in third place ahead of Jamie Green, Timo Scheider and Miguel Molina. Daniel Juncadella places first Mercedes in seventh place. Mattias Ekström (Audi), the most serious rival of the best contender for the title, on the other hand, completely missed his qualifications by only taking penultimate place. Adrien Tambay (Audi) took 11th position ahead of Maxime Martin (BMW).
