Champion in 2016, Heikki Kovalainen announced the end of his career in Super GT after 7 seasons in the Japanese championship through a video on his YouTube channel. The Finn, however, does not intend to hang up his helmet any time soon.
Racing enthusiast, the former driver of Formula 1 will continue his career in the Japanese championship rally. " I am still passionate about motorsport. My interest in rallying has recently grown within me. I did a few rallies as an amateur this year. It’s an area that has always attracted me. So of course I will never be champion of WRC, but the goal is to do a season in Japan with a four-wheel drive car."
