For once, it was not René Rast (Audi) who took pole position in DTM in Hockenheim (Germany). This honor still went to another driver from the brand with the Rings, Nico Müller.

Initially, it was Mike Rockenfeller who was the fastest in the rain. But the German suffered a five-place penalty for receiving three black and white flags throughout the 2019 season. Timo Glock (BMW) will start second, ahead of Jamie Green (Audi).

French Loïc duval (Audi) achieved the 10th fastest time. The difficulties continue for the three Super GT cars, all relegated to the back of the grid (Cassidy 16th, Button 19th, Quintarelli 21st).
