NASCAR moves to Brazil in 2023

Brazilian opening for NASCAR

The discipline announced the launch of the NASCAR Brasil Sprint Race, 4th international series after the NASCAR Pinty’s Series in Canada, the NASCAR Mexico Series in Mexico, and the now well-established NASCAR Whelen Euro Series organized in Europe by the Galpin family’s Team FJ.

This series, born from a partnership between the GT Sprint Race Series and NASCAR, now allows it to race across the entire American continent and offer events in 12 countries on 3 continents.

The GT Sprint Race was founded in 2012 by Thiago Marques, a former Brazilian Touring driver and brother of Tarso Marques. Former pilot of Formula 1 seen in particular at Minardi, the latter announced at the start of the year its intention to enter the NASCAR Cup Series: Brazilian Tarso Marques to debut in NASCAR

To date, three Brazilian drivers have entered one of the three major divisions of NASCAR: Christian Fittipaldi who started 16 Cup Series rounds in 2002-2003, Miguel Paludo, mainly in the Truck Series, and Nelson Piquet Jr. the most diligent with 83 starts who scored 2 victories in the Truck Series and 1 in Xfinity, making him the first Brazilian driver to win at this level of the discipline.

This association is accompanied by an agreement to broadcast Cup Series events and certain rounds of the Xfinity Series and Truck Series on the Auriverde Brand Sports network. In 2023, 195 countries will broadcast these events, reaching an estimated audience of 500 million US racing fans. In France, the broadcast agreement with Automoto La Chaîne was renewed at the end of this rich 2022 season, promises of new Sunday meetings with Philippe Chereau and Pat Angeli.

The 2023 calendar will be released later, but a round has already been announced at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace of Interlagos in Sao Paulo.
