There will not be 9 but 8 rounds to be played in DTM next season. If the first version unveiled last September showed a calendar with 9 dates, the management of the German championship finally decided to withdraw the one whose location had not yet been revealed and scheduled for June 3 to 5, 2022.
« With the limitation of the calendar, we have heard, among other things, the desire of the teams to reconsider the June date and to compete in the 2022 season, like the previous one, over eight race weekends.,” specifies Frederic Elsner, in charge of operations and events.
As a result, the rest of the calendar has not undergone any further changes. The first round was maintained from April 29 to May 1 in Portimão. These will then follow at the Lausitzring (May 20-22), at Imola (June 17-19), at the Norisring (July 1-3), at the Nürburgring (July 26-28), at Spa-Francorchamps (September 9-11), in Spielberg (September 23-25) before the final in Hockenheim (October 7-9).
