After the announcement of BMW's withdrawal from the Formula 1, the propeller firm was quick to explain that it was committed to its commitment to motorsport. The arrival of BMW in DTM was even expected but, barring a change in the situation, the touring championship should continue with Audi and Mercedes for manufacturers only. Norbert Haug, vice-president of Mercedes Motorsport, indicated that the two German firms would not be joined in 2010 by a third manufacturer.
