Lucas Luhr arrives in Nascar Whelen Euro Series

La Nascar Whelen Euro Series has secured the services of a big fish for the 2022 season in the person of Lucas Luhr. At 42, the German will make his debut in the discipline at the wheel of a Chevrolet Camaro for the Racingfuel Motorsport team.

Lucas Luhr is a Grand Touring specialist. Double GT category winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2002 and 2003 with Porsche, il a inscrit la plus belle ligne de son palmarès en remportant le Championnat du monde FIA GT1 avec la monstrueuse Nissan GT-R en 2011 pour le team JRM.

The link with the United States is with the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) which he won in 2013 on one and with a start in IndyCar in Sonoma in 2013.

“I’m really looking forward to joining the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series and supporting the building and development of the Racingfuel Motorsport team.”, Luhr said before his debut at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain. Luhr will share the car with Christoph Lenz, whose team earlier announced he would race in EuroNASCAR 2. Luhr's professional racing experience and Lenz's debut in TCR as well as GT promise to create a duo dynamic that will quickly pick up the pace during the 2022 season.

The Nascar Whelen Euro Series season will begin in Valencia on May 14-15.
