Despite a better start than Maro Engel, Edoardo Mortara was only able to stay in the lead for the first left curve, the German overtaking him before that of the Mandarin, imitated by his teammate Van der Zande, then by Stefan Mücke. Behind, while Lisboa was braking, a collision between Richard Lyons, Kevin Estre and Earl Bamber eliminated them.
At the relaunch Engel and the Mercedes lead significantly widened the gap, while his Dutch teammate held off the Audis of Mortara and Rast. Until Van der Zande, following contact from Mücke at the rear, suffered his left rear tire being rubbed by the bodywork of the left wing being pressed into it. La course était alors sous safety car et c’est au 16e tour, pendant cette neutralisation, que la Porsche de Shen, un retardataire, tapait et bloquait le reste du peloton. Le drapeau rouge était montré et la course terminée, le classement entériné au 14e des 18 tours.
Engel and Mercedes are therefore the first winners of the FIA GT World Cup.
