After his incredible victory the day before at the Norisring, René Rast took pole for Race 2. The championship leader was less than a hundredth ahead of Jamie Green. The Audis are at the forefront since the second row is formed by Nico Müller, the pole sitter from the day before, and Loïc duval.
Philipp Eng took the first BMW to 5th place ahead of Mike Rockenfeller (Audi) and Bruno Spengler (BMW). Daniel Juncadella was the best representative of Aston Martin placing the first Vantage in 13th position. Timo Glock (BMW) caused the session to be interrupted by encountering a mechanical problem. The German is last ranked.
