Rene Rast (Audi) achieved the best time in the first qualifying session of the DTM at the Hungaroring in 1'34''742. He took a jackpot for Audi since the six cars from the Ingolstadt brand were in the top 7. Jamie Green finished 2e while Mattias Ekström and Nico Müller established the 2nd line.
Mike Rockenfeller was ahead of the 1st BMW of Augusto Farfus while Loïc duval entered the top 10 in qualifying for the first time with a 7e place. Lucas Auer placed first Mercedes in 8. e place in front of Garry Paffet (Mercedes). Tom Blomqvist (BMW) completed the top 10.
