René Rast (Audi) won his first pole of the season for Race 1 of the DTM at the Nürburgring. The reigning champion set a time of 1'22''203 and won with a 28 thousandths lead over Gary Paffett (Mercedes). Bruno Spengler (BMW) will share the second row of the grid with Lucas Auer (Mercedes). Championship leader Paul di Resta (Mercedes) will start from 8th place.
Almost a second late, Loïc duval (Audi) was the slowest of the session and will start from the back of the grid.
