Mike Rockenfeller (Audi) was the fastest in the first free practice session at the Lausitzring meeting in Germany. The driver of the brand with the rings achieved a best lap in 1'17″278, 97 thousandths ahead of Mattias Ekström's sister car.
Robert Wickens places first Mercedes-AMG C63 in third position two tenths ahead of the Audi of Jamie Green, winner of the second Hockenheim race. The Briton is ahead of Lucas Auer (Mercedes), winner of the opening round at Hockenheim and leader of the championship, and who completes the top 5.
