Timo Glock returns to DTM at Imola

Timo Glock is back in DTM. The BMW factory driver will be a guest driver during the third DTM race weekend at Imola (June 17-19), and he will do so with former DTM champion Roberto Ravaglia's team, the Ceccato team. “Racing in DTM with Roberto Ravaglia and his team is a cool story”, rejoices the German, who will be behind the wheel of a BMW M4.

Timo Glock retired from the DTM at the end of the 2021 season. With BMW, he participated in 146 races in the series for six pole positions, five victories and 15 podiums. In 2018 and 2020, Glock finished in fifth place in the DTM drivers' standings. For the 2022 season, the Munich car manufacturer sent it to the Italian GT championship. Along with fellow factory driver Jens Klingmann, Glock got his campaign off to a good start at Monza, winning the first race and placing second in the second. He also teamed up with Felipe Massa in a Brazilian stock car race in February.

“The new M4 suits me well”, noted Glock. On the other hand, the driver with 51 Grands Prix is well aware of the enormous task that awaits him on his return to DTM: “With Michelin, the DTM uses a different tire than the Italian championship. Preparation opportunities are rare as tire availability is very limited due to general supply chain issues. The timed pit stop is also a new task for the team. Overall, it's a huge challenge, but a great story, one that I'm really looking forward to. »

For Roberto Ravaglia, excitement is also important. “Being back in DTM after so many years is really exciting. I still have the thrill of 1989, when I won the DTM title as a driver. Today I have the chance to participate in the DTM as team principal of Ceccato Racing on the legendary Imola circuit, and for the 50th anniversary of BMW M, what's more”, says Ravaglia, who took six victories and five pole positions in the DTM between 1988 and 1992.
