Tyler Reddick makes his 23XI debut

The sole manufacturer of the discipline, Goodyear, organized a day of testing this Monday at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin in order to prepare for the 2023 season. NASCAR Cup Series. Three drivers took to the track on this occasion, Austin Cindric, Kyle Busch and Tyler Reddick.

No big news for Austin Cindric at the wheel of the No. 2 Ford of Team Penske, except the absence of the two yellow stripes that he had to wear on the bumper of his Ford Mustang throughout the race. season 2022 in his capacity as a beginner in the premier category. The big news came rather from one of the two drivers who accompanied him on the track.

Dire que Tyler Reddick a animé la saison 2022 sur et hors piste est un euphémisme. Dès juillet 2022, deux mois avant le début des Playoffs, le jeune espoir annonçait sa signature chez 23XL en… 2024 ! Sachant qu’il disposait déjà d’une prolongation de contrat chez Richard Childress Racing pour la saison 2023, cette annonce bien précoce le mettait sous les feux des projecteurs et le plaçait dans une position bien délicate vis à vis de son employeur. Heureusement, Reddick a sur répondre sur la piste à ses détracteurs en s’imposant à deux reprises au cours de ce mois de juillet agité à Road America et Indianapolis avant de signer une troisième victoire en ouverture du Round of 12 des Playoffs au Texas. En NASCAR, il n’y a pas de problèmes, seulement des solutions et la situation se décantait finalement durant l’intersaison.  La retraite forcée de Kurt Busch libérait un baquet chez 23XI pour 2023 et la signature de son petit frère Kyle chez Childress libérait de fait Reddick de ses obligations. Tout va bien dans le meilleur des mondes et Tyler a pu prendre la piste à Austin ce lundi dans la Toyota Camry n°45 du 23XI Racing.
