The scene had gone unnoticed and many, including us, were surprised by Denny Hamlin's virulence towards Byron following neutralization. big NASCAR Brother was keeping watch, and it quickly became clear that Hamlin's door knocking was the result of a preliminary assault by Byron.
The Hendrick Motorsports driver was found guilty of throwing Hamlin off the track under yellow flags, causing him to lose numerous positions and ultimately valuable championship points.
Byron receives 25 penalty points while his team receives a fine of $50. After the Texas round, Byron occupied 000rd place in the Championship with 3 points ahead of the first relegated team. He will start the Sunday round at Talladega in 17th position, 10 points behind 8th place, the first to qualify for the Round of 8.
Rick Hendrick has announced his intention to appeal the sanction, but the images leave no doubt as to the intentional nature of Byron's maneuver.

Ty Gibbs received a fine of $75 for hitting Ty Dillon in the pit lane. Not being qualified for the playoffs, he will not have any additional penalty in points.
