First penalties fall for Espargaro and Morbidelli at Assen

After the first day of testing, the first penalties have just fallen at Assen. During the first free practice session, the drivers were able to drive on a wet track, even dangerous for some protagonists. But it was in FP1 that Franco Morbidelli and Aleix Espargaro made mistakes. While he held the second best time in FP2, the Spaniard saw his time canceled. Indeed, the Aprilia rider set off on his 2rd run with slick tires at the front and rear as well as a rear water spoiler. Problematically, this constitutes a violation of Article 3.e of the FIM World Championship Regulations MotoGP. With his time in 1'33″452 is therefore canceled and Aleix Espargaro passes from 2nd place to 25th. 

Franco Morbidelli was penalized for obstructing Marco Bezzecchi and Enea Bastianini. The teammate of fabio quartararo immediately admitted his mistake at a press conference. On Sunday, he will have to complete a long lap during the Dutch Grand Prix. “ I was pushing to go to Q2 but Franco arrived in front of me with a very slow pace. It was impossible to avoid it and in the end, I find myself out (of Q2) for the moment », added Enea Bastianini after the second practice session. The Italian driver like Aleix Espargaro will have to be fast and efficient on Saturday at Assen if they want to avoid passing through Q1.
