At the end of the six special stages of the first stage of the rally des Cardabelles, Jean-Marie Cuoq is well in the lead. At the wheel of his 206 WRC, the Ardèche driver, author of five scratches, is ahead of Dominique Bruyneel (Subaru Impreza WRC) by 1'42" and Laurent Carbonarà by 1'56". Delayed by a broken accelerator cable, Chieusse (206 WRC) is only seventh, while Munster, victim of two punctures, plunged to 16th place. Note the abandonment of Robin Auriol, Didier's son, who was betrayed by the mechanics of his Skoda Octavia WRC.
