With five scratches in seven stages at Geko Rally of Ypres, Kevin Abbring (Peugeot 208 T16) consolidates his lead at the head of the Belgian event against his rival Freddy Loix (Skoda Fabia S2000) who finishes the first stage 25 seconds behind the leader after having notably lost time after a spin. Esapekka Lappi (Skoda) completes the provisional podium ahead of Cédric Cherain (Fiesta R5) and Sepp Wiegand (Skoda). The German enters the top five with a second ahead of the Fiesta S2000 of Hermen Kobus, while Craig Breen (208 T16) moved up to seventh place. Luca Rossetti (Skoda) moved up to second place before losing more than five minutes following a puncture.
