Irish Craig Breen (Peugeot 208 T16 R5) took the lead in the qualifying stage of the SATA Rally Açores. This will allow him to choose his starting order. An exercise which nevertheless promises to be complicated as the local weather is uncertain. The Lion driver, thanks to a time established in 2'03"832, is ahead of the Portuguese Ricardo Moura (Ford Fiesta R5) who however made a mistake on the finish line of the ES, damaging the radiator of his mount.

Kajetan Kajetanowicz (Ford Fiesta R5) is in 3rd place, more than two seconds behind. Robert Consani (Citroën DS3 R5) finished 6th, more than six seconds behind, while Charles Martin (Peugeot 208 T16 R5) climbed to 9th position.
