Dramatic twist in ERC since the expected duel between the Finn Esapekka Lappi and the German Sepp Wiegand will not take place in Corsica, Wiegand's Skoda Fabia having caught fire in preliminary tests preventing its driver from taking part in the island debates, as has just been announced Skoda on its Twitter account. Lappi therefore wins his first ERC title. The Tour de Corsica which begins this Friday will therefore count as butter in the Drivers' ranking.
