Giandomenico Basso (Ford) signed the first scratch of the Rally Sanremo by completing the 13km from Coldiroli in 8'40"2. The local driver is 4”2 ahead of his compatriot Paolo Andreucci (Peugeot ). Jan Kopecky is the first Skoda driver, finishing at 6”6. Alessandro Perico (Peugeot) is fourth, nine seconds behind, ahead of Juho Hänninen (Skoda) by four tenths. Pierre Campana (Peugeot) sets the eighth fastest time at 21”3, six seconds behind Craig Breen (Peugeot). Umberto Scandola (Skoda), best performer in the shakedown, lost more than five minutes after going off the road.
