Andreas Mikkelsen (Fabia S2000) takes the scratch in the Monte Benedetto special (SS9) with a time of 5'21"7 at the end of 6,8km. The Norwegian is now ahead of his rival Giandomenico Basso by three tenths. Laurent Reuche retired while in sixth place in his 207 S2000. The Swiss abandoned by breaking a wheel when leaving the road. Germain Bonnefis set the eighth fastest time despite a puncture following a trip off the road.

The top five does not change behind the two leaders with Umberto Scandola (Fabia S2000) third ahead of Sepp Wiegand (Fiesta S2000) and Juha Salo (Fiesta S2000). Jarko Nikara (Subaru Impreza Sti R4) regains sixth place previously occupied by Laurent Reuche.
