Jan Kopecky dominates at Barum Rally

At the end of the first stage of the Barum Rally in the Czech Republic, Jan Kopecky (Skoda Fabia R5) leads his home event counting towards the European Rally Championship. The driver of the brand from Mlada Boleslav precedes the Russian Alexey Lukyanuk (Ford Fiesta R5) by 16″6. The latter lost time in SS7 after power steering problems. Vaclav Pech (Ford Fiesta R5) is third at 47″5.

Marijan Griebel (Skoda Fabia R5) follows in fourth position at 1'09″7, after a scare in SS6. The top 5 is completed by Roman Kresta (Skoda Fabia R5), ranked at 1'13”. Kajetan Kajetanowicz (Ford Fiesta R5), reigning double European champion, is only 8th at 1'21”. Bryan Bouffier (Ford Fiesta R5) played the leading roles in the top 5 before puncturing and losing more than two minutes in SS8. The Frenchman is in 14th position at 2'56″5.
