At the end of the first stage of Rally of the Azores, first round of the 2017 European Rally Championship, Kajetan Kajetanowicz (Ford Fiesta R5) took the lead in the general classification with a 1″1 lead over Alexey Lukyanuk (Ford Fiesta R5).
It was thanks to his best time in SS4 Grupo Marques, which concluded the day, that the double reigning European champion took the advantage over Lukyanuk, who had made the best start in SS1.
Behind the master duo of this first stage, Ricard Moura places his Ford Fiesta R5 in third position at 13″8. The first Skoda Fabia R5 of Ralfs Sirmacis is in fourth position, 17″3 ahead of Bruno Magalhaes (Skoda Fabia R5). The first one Peugeot 208 T16 R5 of José António Suárez ranks eighth at 23″7.
